The end of the world

The end of the world

Last night was the day of elections americaines between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.
I thought impossible has became possible, Donald Trump Donald Trump became the 45th US President.

We are not yet at the stage of thinking, it will come later, but at that moment in life when we find ourselves facing what is moreover exciting but also more cruel in human nature: its ability to touch the shallows, to sink into the dark night of its own destruction, its appetite for whatever is dirty, violent.
Yesterday it was in Nuremberg and Berlin that millions of Germans glorifying the coming of a Führer who announced their fall today on the other side of the Atlantic, a lively people of the same suicidal madness , chooses the most insignificant, the most mediocre of representative.
This morning, we are in mourning.

A world just collapsed, one that will succeed it gives hardly want to know we can still believe and yet it will live with, is to show the challenges he proposes, show uncompromising on our values and ways of thinking, continue to affirm our faith in the belief of a carrier humanism of hope and progress.

We do not have the choice.

The fight begins today.

  2. Indeed, the way forward is to confront the madness is head-on with eyes open. Our election in the US reminds me that we often don't know what we can't see, and sometimes, politicians tap into that unknown nexus of fear and anxiety and anger like a spark. I don't believe that US voters supported Trump for his policies. I think many cast votes to throw bricks through the windows of government, and force the world to change and to recognize them in our midst. What we can't allow is that change to be built on hatred, mistrust, lies and more.

  4. The U.S. is a large and unbelievably varied place. No one solution is possible to the problem of Trump. Luckily for the world, there are many wrenches going into many gears as we speak. And there are also those who are trying to address the problems that brought us here in creative and positive ways. The "fight" metaphor is apt, but incomplete. We need help from the world to keep Trump in check, but the world has to have some faith in the power of diverse action in the U.S.

  5. If you can take anything positive from the election results, is that the things that need watching and changing just became more obvious, so if there's some activism for everyone ahead, then we need to keep having the conversations so we know what we are dealing with and collaborate on how to make a difference.
